Prith Banerjee is the new director of HP Labs and we have an interesting conversation in front of the offices of David Packard and Bill Hewlett about the future of HP Labs and what they are trying to do.

Hey, why not record your own video response on Youtube - and insert the url here.

CERN seems extremely interesting. I had watched a few documentaries on this project during the past few months. Just hope everything happens as predicted by the CERN Lead Scientist. 8)

What innovative products has HP created recently (last 5 - 8 years) out of their labs? I honestly don't know. It would be interesting to study if HP has been more effective at monetizing their own innovations or at leveraging and scaling their current business model to provide cash for the acquisition of smaller companies. I would think more of the later. Xerox has had the same problem. Lots of great ideas, but few proprietary products that make money.

Prith Banerjee mentioned that "in the next 5 years more information will be created than exists at the moment". I was looking for a reference for that, but couldn't find it. Has anyone an idea? Thanks!

It's nice to see a company taking such a comprehensive end-to-end view of R&D and how to monitize it instead of just throwing stuff to the wall and seeing what sticks. HP is really lucy to have someone like Banerjee.
