Yet another very helpful software from Google. This should really be of use for those who lack the time to view documents (due to having numerous tasks).

@John Erik, it's supposedly random. They roll out the feature to a random selection of people, usually a small percentage. This lets them see if complaints start rolling in or if server issues start cropping up. If there are problems, they have time to work on them before the world at large has to deal with it. If everything looks ok, they roll it out to the rest of the world. If you don't have it already, I'd expect you'd have it in a week or two.
@Manuel, yes, Google Gears is an add-on for the three big browsers, available for the three big OSes.
This Google Spreadsheet is a perfect example:

Not seeing google gears working on Google docs just now. It would be great. Zoho which has a huge online office suite, ported their docs offering offline using Google gears. Clever move because gears is open source.
Great news for docs.
(Please use a better mic next time!)
good. been waiting for this.
I'm always curious how they roll updates out -- who gets them first and why? what's the metric there. oh well. looking forward to when it comes to me.
Offline Docs sounds cool. Didn´t know that Gears is a Browserextension. I´m glad using Firefox. :)
