Datacenter of the Future

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

What does the data center of the future look like? Well, HP Labs built one to find new ways to cool machines while using less power. Chandrakant Patel, HP Fellow & Director of HP Labs' Sustainable IT Ecosystem Laboratory, gives us a tour of the lab, which actually was used to render the first two Shrek movies.

Hey, why not record your own video response on Youtube - and insert the url here.

I think that I will email this video to all my friends. And I suppose you will find the competent people who will be able to develop this area of knowledge.

Great interview Robert.

Some more thoughts here: http://zwadia.com/?p=10

this HP guy is a genius. As always, a really entertaining video!

P.S. LMMFAO @ 15:03 (or there abouts...) she totally got kicked out of the break-room cuz of the interview, huh? hehehe.

So umm, I loved the interview but the "tour" was lame.

This video segment doesn't actually include a tour of the lab (at least not visually) as implied. Is the description incorrect, or are you teasing us (e.g. a follow-on video is in the works)...

So HP is going to be a one stop shop after their aquisition of EDS and their advantage will be in the implementation of data centers.

This is one sharp guy. Great discussion Robert! An amazingly holistic view of the issues from a "box" vendor.

Nice. The old school is the new school! Back to engineering! That is counter-intuitive to the IT organization of today.
