Bringing you into Fast Company Videos

At FastCompany.TV you should be part of the show. The problem is that with most video technology it's hard to really make it interactive. Over on Scobleizer TV, for instance, shows are filmed with high definition camcorders, then the videos are posted a few days later for you to view because they need to be edited, converted to a format that can be viewed over the Web, etc. Not many places for you to get involved except to comment or join our social network.

But here we've been experimenting with a new technology that lets us broadcast interviews live, while we do them, via a cell phone. That's pretty cool in of itself. But what's even better is if you join us for one of these live shows you'll be able to participate by commenting during the shooting. Those comments show up on the screen of our cell phones while we're shooting.

How do we do this? We're using a Nokia N95 cell phone along with a service from qik.com. Actually, if you have a Nokia phone you can do the same thing and we'd love to know about your videos, if you do some.

So, how do you know about our events? Well, we'll tell you about many in advance. But if you follow my Twitter account I'll Twitter as I'm shooting, so you can come and join us if we are doing something unplanned (which is often the case because I never know who I'll bump into with my cell phone). In fact, we got a ride in the new Tesla and didn't know in advance that would happen.

Now, keep in mind that audio and video quality won't be as nice as that from our HD cameras that you'll see over on Scobleizer TV. It'll be shaky, and sometimes hard to see what's going on because the resolution is far less (getting a good picture depends on having a great cell phone connection too) but we'll keep playing with this technology as it improves.

Let us know what you think. After all, this is our technology experiment. Hope to see you live!
